Lets face it. Blackouts are a pain in the ass if you can’t go to the local game and instead want to watch the game at home. With a little trick you can easily avoid the blackouts and watch any game you want.
The thing is that international viewers can watch all games live via mlb.tv. By connecting to a Virtual Private Network also known as VPN you can fake your location and make mlb.tv think you arelocated outside the US or Canada.
You need a VPN provider with plenty of bandwidth. I prefer Hide My Ass as they have made a custom app that makes the setup really easy. Simply select a city in the UK or somewhere like that and click connect. The reload mlb.tv and you can now watch all the live games whenever you like and at the same time avoid local blackouts. Pretty neat huh?

You can use this trick on the Apple TV as well. The only problem is that the Apple TV does not have a build in VPN client. Instead you need to connect to VPN via your router. Only a few routers can do this – the best of which is the ASUS RT-N16. Simply set up the router to connect to your Hide My Ass account and then connect the Apple TV to the router. From then on you can use the mlb.tv app as if you were located outside the US and watch all the games you like.
