There is a new player in town when it comes to streaming online music and so far it looks extremely promising compared to other offerings on the market. The only problem is that Rdio is only available in the US unless you use the following trick.

The Trick to Signing up for Rdio from Outside the US

If you try to sign up for Rdio outside the US or Canada you will be meet with the following message:” Rdio is not available in your country yet.” In order to get around this you will have to trick Rdio into thinking you are actually inside the US or Canada – you do this by connecting to a Virtual Private Network or VPN for short. It might sound complicated but if you use the app from Unlocator it is actually pretty simple (more about them later).

See by connecting to a VPN with a server in the US you will be able to get an American IP address and thereby fool Rdio into thinking you are in the US. This will allow you to sign up for Rdio and also stream the music from anywhere in the world. That is all there is to it.

The best VPN for streaming Rdio

As I mentioned above I use Unlocator – and it works both on Mac, Pc, iPhone, iPad and Android. For the Mac and PC they have made a super simple app that you install and connect with, how to use rdio outside the USand on the mobile devices you just enter the manual settings under VPN on your device. You get these settings once you have signed up for the service.

It is worth mentioning that by using the connection from Unlocator you can unblock any US only service of which is by far the most popular one. As a bonus I use the VPN on all my mobile devices as it secures my data traffic when connecting to wireless networks.

Anyhow enough rambling – this is basically all there is to it of you want to use Rdio from outside the US or Canada. The tiny workaround is well worth it if you ask me.
