This tutorial will teach you how to share your VPN connection from your Windows machine with other devices not capable of connecting to VPN on their own. This could be a device such as the Apple TV, Xbox 360, Wii, PlayStation or a Smart TV.

First of all you need to have established a VPN connection that uses the build in VPN client in Windows. It is important that you use the build in client and not a separate VPN application. In order to learn how to setup a manual VPN connection take a look this tutorial: How to setup VPN on Windows. Once you have setup a connection and tested it out then return to this tutorial. I use Hide My Ass VPN for this tutorial.
The next step is actually very simple. Locate connection menu item and right-click on the VPN connection you have setup. Now select properties and a new window will open. Then select the sharing tab and check of “Allow other network users to connect through this computer’s Internet connection”. Below select

the network connection you will be sharing to. It’s important to understand that you cant share to the same connection you use to connect to the Internet with. I connect to the Internet via Wi-Fi so I share my VPN connection to my Ethernet connection and then connect my Apple TV to the Ethernet port. You might have two Ethernet ports or perhaps connect to the Internet viaa USB dongle. Whatever your setup is just remember to share to a network connection you are not already using.
Now click ok and you might be asked to reconnect to VPN in order to make the sharing work. That is it – now simply connect your Apple TV, Xbox or whatever device you want to use the VPN connection with.
