The VPN application from Hide My Ass VPN is great, but sometimes it makes more sense to use the build in VPN client in Windows as you will get better speeds. In this tutorial I will show you how to setup a VPN connection using Hide My ass VPN.
First of all you need an account with Hide My Ass VPN. If you don’t head on over and create one.
First thing you need to do is log into the control panel of Hide My Ass VPN. Look for the PPTP servers on the left hand side and click on the link. On the next page scroll down and look for your PPTP username and password (not the same password as your general password).
Then find a server on the list you want to connect to. Take note of the IP address.
Go to the start menu on your PC and select control panels.
Select “Network and Internet”
Then choose “Network and Sharing Center”
Click on “Set up a new connection or network”
On the pop up window choose “connect to a workplace”
In the next screen select “No, create a new connection”
On the next step choose “use my Internet connection (VPN)”
Then on the next screen copy and paste the servers IP address and give the connection a name of you own choosing. Select “Don’t connect now, just set it up so I can connect later”
On the next screen fill in your username and password for the PPTP connection. Do NOT paste in your password – you have to type it or you will get an error when you connect. Select remember this password.
Then on the last screen click connect and you Windows will now establish a connection to the VPN server.
