Turntable FM is one of the coolest music services available online. It allows you to play music together with your friends in different rooms. You can rate session, earn points and much more. As always the service is only available to those in the US but here is a guide to how you can access the site from outside the US.

When you visit the Turntable FM site from outside the US you are meet with the following message: We’re very sorry, but while we would love to let you in and rock out with us, we need to currently restrict turntable access to only the United States due to licensing constraints.

Turntable FM was able to detect your location via your computers IP-address, which is a number used to for online communication between online devices. You inherit this number from your Internet Provider and therefore it is easy to detect your location. What you need to do is get an American IP-address so you can trick Turntable FM into thinking that you are located in the US.

Use VPN to Access Turntable FM from Outside the US

Thankfully it is pretty easy to get an American IP-address. By connecting to what is know as a VPN you will be able to “hide” behind a server located in the US and as a result you will inherit an American IP-address from this server.

Setting up a VPN connection is fairly straightforward. Personally I prefer using Unlocator as they have a great application for both Mac and PC. After you have installed the application your can decide where you want to appear to be located by selecting a city/country from a long list of over 243 servers. Simply select a server in the US and then connect. Behind the scenes the application will do all the hard work and a couple of seconds later you will have your new IP-address. Then simply reload the Turntable FM website and you are now presented with the original website without the country warning.

That is really all there is to it – simply connect with the Unlocator application when you want to use Turntable FM. As you can see it is fairly simple to get access to the site despite being located outside the US. It is important to note that this technique will also allow you to unblock all the other US only services.
