Setting up the service from Unblock Us is pretty simple. All you have to do is change a couple of DNS numbers and then you are ready to go. It is that simple.

No one knows exactly how it works but apparently they tunnel the DNS lookup trough their servers, and even though I would love to provide some more in-depth details about how it works the inner workings are a trade secret of Unblock US. The fact of the matter is that it works as advertised and that is the point.

The Pros and Cons – the actual Unblock US Review

On the pro side it is easy to set up Unblock US and it works really well. It can be used on almost all devices, as it is simply a matter of changing some DNS settings. However, the service is limited to only supporting the services listed at their website. Although the list is pretty large, you will be at their mercy when a new service pops up that you want to access. Further more I don’t like routing all my net traffic trough a service with no encryption.

Personally I will still be sticking to my VPN connection from Hide My Ass, as I use it for more than just unblocking Netflix. My VPN connection serves as an extra layer of security when accessing Wi-Fi networks on my laptop and iPhone. These days it has become a national sport sniffing passwords and personal info from Wi-Fi networks, and by using VPN instead of a DNS service I solve two problems instead of one.
