People ask me all the time “Can I watch Netflix in Spain?” and the answer is both yes and no. Netflix has not launched in Spain yet, and if they do some day it will be with much less content than is available in the US version. This is what happened when Netflix expanded to Latin America. Instead I will show you how to unblock the US version of Netflix.
Hide Your Location in Spain
The trick is actually very simple. All you need to do is hide your location from Netflix and make them think you are located in the US. Since Netflix will determine your location by looking at your IP address you will need to somehow get an American IP address. You do this by connecting to a Virtual Private Network or VPN for short. This will allow you to connect to a server in the US that will act as a middleman between you and Netflix and since Netflix will only see the middleman it will appear as if you too are located in the US and not in Spain. It might sound complicated but it really isn’t.
How to set up a VPN in Spain
There are tons for VPN providers on the market, but for some reason only a very few of them have the bandwidth needed to stream movies. I had to try out quite a few before I came across Hide My Ass VPN that finally seemed to solve my problem. The setup is really easy as all you have to do is download their app for either Mac or PC and then select a server in the US and click connect.
Thankfully the pricing model is very easy to understand as they have only one product and you just have to choose your subscription length. The longer the subscription the bigger the discount – just as it always is.
