HBO is one of the most amazing resources of high quality original content. The only problem is that you are located in the UK you are unable to use the service – that is unless you use the following trick.
First of all here is a quick disclaimer: You need to be a HBO subscriber in order to make this work. If you do have a HBO subscription then read on as I will tell how to make use of it while in the UK. The rest of you might be interested in another article showing you how to get content from the US version of while using your UK account.
With that out of the way then on to the actual tutorial. See the problem is that even though you have your HBO subscription details you will still be blocked from accessing the site as you will see the following message “To access HBO GO℠, you must reside within the fifty states of the United States of America. If you reside in this area 
and are still experiencing difficulties, please contact your television provider.” In order to get around this block you need to trick HBO into thinking that you are still located in the US while actually in the UK. You do this by changing your computers IP address.
Trick HBO into Thinking You are Located in the US
All you need in order to get pass the block mentioned above is an American IP address. You inherit your IP address from the Internet Provider you are using at any given moment. So if you access the Internet from the UK you inherit a UK address and so forth.
In order to get around this problem you need to connect to what is known as a Virtual Private Network or VPN. This will allow you to connect to a server located in the US that will give your computer an American IP address. From then on you can simply reload HBO Go and use the service as if you were located in the US.
The best VPN provider for this trick is in my opinion Unlocator. They have custom apps for PC and Mac and their service works on the iPad, iPhone and Android as well. Simply sign up for the service and install their app on your Mac and PC and then select and connect to a server located in the US. About 10-15 seconds later your computer will then have an American IP address and you can then start using the HBO Go site and app.
This trick works for unblocking any US only service outside the US. It will also enable you to watch Hulu and the like in the UK. Besides VPN will encrypt your data connection, which in turn makes it much safer to use hotel and airport Wi-Fi while abroad.
