So if you are abroad you will be inheriting a IP-address from a foreign provider. This makes it easy for Film4 to detect your location and block you from accessing the site.
So what you need to do is obtain an IP-address from the UK. This is fairly simple and it will allow you to not only access Film4 but also other UK only sites.
Gain Access to UK Only Sites via VPN
The key here is connecting to a so-called Virtual Private Network (VPN). When you connect to a VPN you will log on to a server often located in 
another country. In this case the UK. Once connected you will inherit an IP-address from this server instead of the IP you have from your Internet Provider. This allows you to bypass country restrictions like the one put in place by Film4.
